AMBIO pH Control
- Sodium silicate, also called water glass
Sodium silicate acts as a corrosion inhibitor by forming silicates in water. The silicates can bind to metal ions to avoid oxidation thereof. The silicates also react with corrosion products (metal oxides) and / or calcium and form soluble compounds so that, for example, old rust is removed. This can also form a corrosion protection film of metal silicate.
Water glass also contains about 8% by weight of lye, which raises the pH and thus protects pipes from corrosion.
NB! The solution is very basic. Avoid eye and skin contact and inhalation of vapor.
